Music City Shabbat - Music has always been a central aspect of Jewish religious and cultural life. From Moses leading the people of Israel in a song of Divine praise to the stirring strains of Hatikvah, music is at the soul of Judaism. In our quest to be inspired, we turn to music; in our pursuit of comfort, music may hold the key. It is logical, then, that West End Synagogue’s “Synagogue 2000” team decided to focus on music and the music of the Friday night service in particular, when seeking ways to strengthen our mission as a Congregation inspiring and welcoming all.

The results of their endeavor – and the labor of dozens of committed individuals – are on the Music City Shabbat CD. Listen to it and learn from it, and most importantly, sing out at our special Friday night service called “Music City Shabbat” that will use those melodies. The blending of our voices will enhance our prayer experience, refresh our congregation and serve as an inspiration to all. We plan to have a “Music City Shabbat” once a month. Call West End Synagogue at 615/269-4592 or visit our website for the schedule.

You may download some of the songs from the CD, below. Please contact the Synagogue for a copy of the CD and a companion booklet.
